Have only tried a couple of different sandwiches but so far so good! Fresh, interesting ingredients/combinations that are worth the price. Snicker doodle cookies are amazing

Great sandwich shop, if this were in my area I'd put it in my rotation. I love the decor of this place and the unique sandwich names, I'm intrigued to try all of them on just names alone. First go around I tried the grilled cheese with jalapenos, it had a cream cheese spread so of course that makes everything taste better ,i opted for the side salad cuz you know trying to watch the figure (not really but that's how I justified getting a cookie) I'm not sure of the salad dressing but it was tasty. I saw that they do have breakfast with mimosas so I'm sure I'll hit this place up again soon...

I dig this place. Today was my first time in. I was impressed with the decor: brick, wood and concrete finishes. The garage door will make dining during the summer fun. I had the Do Gouda, tasty and surprisingly sweet. I also love that they are donating a sandwich for each one purchased I will definitely be back and bring some friends.

Having pass this place many times; I have finally made it in. The entire place and seating is really roomy and don't feel like you are being crammed. Owner is really hands on and helpful. We ordered the JP grilled cheese, that was pretty delish and with the right amount of spicy kick to it and yummy cheese!!! Also orders the Sprang Chicken HUGE and just as delicious, the topping as on point and the bread was perfect. The kettle chips YUM!! Best of all it is a sandwich with a cause!! Great food and feel good about eating out :)

Food is excellent, cause is supportable. My favorite sandwich is the pot roast dip with the Reuben a close second. Sprang chicken and the jp grilled cheese are my other go to orders. Party tots are delicious. Add a dash of salt to the salad/dressing if you get salad instead of chips. The metal chairs are uncomfortable, but arrangement issues have been resolved. Check out the power outlets.

Great sandwich shop. I will be back. First thing I noticed was the live music. Pretty awesome for a Sunday in SLC at a sandwich shop. It's clean and well laid out with outdoor seating. Ordering was simple. Great names on the sandwiches. I ordered the "Mihami Vice" on the recommendation of the woman taking orders. It came out quick and was very good. Highly recommended it but it's all I've tried so far. Also dollar beers is awesome. If you haven't been you should.

So, I've heard ALOT about this place from various people and for some reason never got the chance to go until yesterday. I had read their menu along with what they do (in regards to giving back) and it seemed like an awesome concept. First thing I noticed about this place was the awesome building. It looks like a garage but has been renovated into an amazing indoor/outdoor open concept dining space. It's super casual where you walk up to the counter and order what you like. There are about 10 sandwich choices, a few salad choices, along with another few side options. They have a variety of coke products as well as beer. This place to me is everything I'd want in a sandwich shop. I wanted to get the Sloppy Tina and chickened out since it was something new. (If you've had it could you please send me a message? haha) I ordered the Hummazing Vegan sandwich ($7.25); however I changed it up a little. I added some provolone cheese to the sandwich along with switching the bread from wheat to multi-grain. Oh My Goodness! This sandwich was everything I wanted and more!! Let me start by saying I think the size of the sandwich was perfect! It wasn't a wimpy little sandwich with just 2 pieces of lettuce and 1/2 a spoonful of hummus (Like most places with a veggie option). I've attached a picture underneath. The sandwich comes with your choice of chips or salad. Both are quite nice. My friend ordered the Bake Mahi Mahi sandwich with the jalapenos and aioli on the side. I tried these two condiments and might I say they were delicious. I will definitely be frequenting Even Stevens! I will try the other location in downtown next just because it is closer to me (I have high hopes after trying this location.) OH PS! Super bonus points for having a variety of hot sauces lined up by the beverage station! (cholula, tabasco, and sriracha!) PPS: They do breakfast/brunch in the mornings too!!

Good food for a good cause. The mahi mahi sandwich is amazing...and sustainably caught. The apricot bacon gorgonzola salad is tge perfect balance of tart, tang and sweet. My son who is a picky eater loved their sloppy joe...shhh...don't tell him it had chorizo in it! Definitely will come back for brunch to check out the amazing looking french toast.

I work right by Even Stevens and they are DELICIOUS so naturally I have been going there often for lunch. I have loved everything I have ever ordered. I love sandwiches! I love the bathroom, it's adorable. I love the patio. I love what they stand for. I love it all! The reason for the 2 star review would be because of the service almost every time I go in. The girl working the register (I don't know her name, I don't think the people working there wear name tags.. but she's super pretty, has really long dark curly hair with pastel pink/blue colors on one side of it) has a rotten attitude, and it's the same rotten attitude EVERY TIME I have visited. On one occasion she even made a snarky comment to my friend about her tattoos as we were ordering.. unnecessary and rude. She appears to be entirely too put out, at all times. I'm sorry? All of that aside- my visit yesterday was really the worst. I walked up to the register, and I could clearly see that she was on the phone taking an order, I can wait, no big deal, at least acknowledge me? Something? Eye contact? Nothing?? Okay, I'll wait. After she gets off the phone (still not acknowledging that I am standing there... like hi, hi I'm over here, at least tell me you'll help me in a moment? Nothing?? Alright, cool, I'll just be right here?) she goes straight into the back, does whatever back there for awhile, it's fine, I get it. I understand if a restaurant is busy and I have all the patience in the world, but seriously... acknowledge my presence??????? ***Also note that no one else is in the store except for myself and the small handful of people that are already seated and eating. I stood there patiently, awkwardly, ignored, just staring at the wall for a good while. Finally she comes back to the register and says with an overly annoyed attitude "Are you ready yet?" Wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. I ordered to go- and I won't be back.

Even Stevens, thank you for coming into my life. I think I love everything about you. The menu appears simple, but what I saw was far from that. So many wonderful flavors all packed into such a simple package. I had the spring chicken sandwich amd it was delicious! A warm chicken, bacon and avocado sandwich with cuc's and spring mix and tomatoes...so good!!! The sandwich was toasted to perfection, so that was just enough crunch to offset the soft bread in the middle. I can't recall what the cheese was, but it was just fantastic. I loved, loved, loved the Sandwich. Finished by splitting an oatmeal chocolate chip and a snickerdoodle cookie, which is a yelp check an offer, and both were very good. They tasted old ton like homemade cookies. Well done!!

Ordered take out again, got home, missing sandwich. I mean now it's just funny. For how much I drive back to pick up what was missed I could be driving out of my way to downtown. And I intend to from now on.

I really wanted to like this place. The concept of helping local nonprofits is great, the atmosphere is great, and they serve beer. But..... the food was disgusting. Unfortunately we will never go back. We ordered the tater tots. They came out cold, not crispy, and partially frozen in the center. We couldn't even eat them. We also tried the chips and queso. Queso was served cold, and the chips were all broken into pieces so small that they couldn't be dipped. Lastly we tried the BLT (with gouda) special. IT's hard to screw up a BLT, but they somehow managed to do it. The bacon was raw and they added pepper jelly to the sandwich (not disclosed ahead of time) that completely ruined the flavor. Not one single part of our lunch meal was edible, and we tried for a few minutes before throwing it all out and leaving. It's really unfortunate because the concept of this restaurant id great, but the food is so bad that it isn't worth it.

We stopped in for breakfast before heading back home. Not many choices for breakfast but what they make, they do with a flair. Everything. Made to order and had a wonderful freshness. We decided to buy sandwiches there to take on the plane ride home and enjoyed the food again 6 hours later. The fact that they contribute a sandwich to the homeless for everyone one purchased was the icing on the cake.

Amazing taste. The Do Gouda is to die for! Friendly staff, very clean environment. The macaroni is good, but not great. The Turkey Day is also a great choice! Plus they donate to the YWCA so you can feel good about spending money here :-)

  • L N.

Brunch to sandwich are absolutely wonderful! One of our favorites! Sometimes a bit awkward to order and then find a place to sit in this tiny place but still worth it!

    (5)
  • Drew M.

I tried the Do Gouda and it was beyond tasty that I wanted more! I will definitely be back with friends to try more for sure! My only complaint is that the salad had too much olive oil, but was still okay. The sandwhich definitely made up for it. I like the comfortable atmosphere and the look of the place.

Walked in to grab a breakfast burrito but the guy working just ignored me and no one ever came to take my order.

Went here for lunch with my friends. We each got something different and LOVED it. I had the Sprang Chicken. It was really good and filling. Comes with choice of chips or side salad. The honey mustard on the sandwich was amazing. Will definitely go back. A little pricy, however.

Love the food, love the staff and especially love their mission of donating a sandwich for each one bought. The decor is cool too.

  • Thomas V.

food here is good and prices match the portions. ive tried their french toast, pot roast dip, and grilled cheese. the grilled cheese they do is one of the better ones ive tried in slc. service here is good and they are fast with serving food. with french toast they are fast with refills on weekends. they also do mimosas and seasonal drinks which is good. id recommend this place for their brunch and lunch. they are fast enough to get between work hours and their weekend brunch is great for the price and options.

  • S L.

Loved it. Cubano was delicious; perfect pickle to meat ratio, cheese and sauce and crispy bread mmmmm. Salad was awesome and made with fresh ingredients. Can't wait to go back and try other sandwiches!

    (5)
  • Natalee B.

I got the Do Gouda and my husband got the Mahi Mahi. Both were delicious. They were not very generous with the meat, that's really my only complaint.

    (3)
  • Lisa P.

I'm so addicted. The grilled cheese is to die for, and even better when you pair it with the tomato bisque (which I really appreciate the small chunks of tomato btw). They do a 1/2 sandwich, soup combo which is great in theory, but I really struggle with it. It is definitely enough food (comes with chips, pickle, and drink) and I'm aways full with the combo, but the grilled cheese is SO good that it feels like a sin to only get half. The struggle is real. I literally can't stop going. I'm not going to pretend like I've ever had anything other than the grilled cheese and tomato soup, because I know I'll never try anything else on their menu. Unless I steal a bite of my friend's food. And the fact that I'm also "giving back" by buying and eating this amazing garlic jalapeño cheese sandwich is genius. In fact, I think I need to go. Right. Now.

Eat delicious food AND do something good for the community? Sign me up! I'm sure everyone already knows Even Stevens business model so I won't get into it but I will get into the food. I've been to the DT location but I live in Sugarhouse so this spot has been my jam lately. I recently had the MiHami Vice (I love a good pun) and yes. Just yes. I've also tried the Do Gouda and Pot Roast Dip and both sandwiches really hit the spot. I love a good warm toasty sandwich. Next on my list is the JP Grilled Cheese because what could go wrong with white cheddar and roasted jalapenos? I really like that their salads can stand on their own but add a really satisfying freshness as a side. I'm partial to the apricot bacon gorgonzola and goat getter. As for other sides, try the party tots. Tots with cheese, bacon, jalapenos, pico, and avocado! What? Yeah. I really need to make it in for brunch to try their stuffed french toast. To top it off, the staff at Even Stevens is a dream. Friendly and helpful. I'm looking forward to warm weather so I can walk to ES. The parking lot can get jammed up pretty quickly and easily but it's worth it. Trust me.

This place is GREAT I really wasn't expecting much when we first found this place. I thought it was going to be like another subway sandwich store that serves simple and typical sandwiches, but with a bit more style to it (the interior suggested it). I was right about the style part. Their menus are unique and quite limited compared to other sandwich shops, and they taste amazing. You can order salads and other side dishes along with your choice of sandwich. We ordered the do gouda and mihami vice with chips and also the apricot bacon gorgonzola salad, which was pretty big in portion size. Everything tasted fresh and delicious:) As we were looking at the menu however, we noticed that the price wasn't cheap for a single sandwich with chips. But we felt it was pretty worth it after eating... ^^ I can't wait to come back and try other menus.

  • Derrick L.

The Mihami and the JP grilled cheese are both amazing. The bread and the ingredients used are top notch! Highly recommend! Need to try breakfast next time. The French toast looked good and if they use the same bread than it had to be good!

  • Kara S.

Wow! What a gem! I ordered the Sprang Chicken sandwich with house salad and was not disappointed! High quality fresh ingredients and big portions. And how great is it that they donate sandwiches to those in need?! Cool atmosphere too! Thanks Yelp!!

This place is fantastic!!The food was killer and my Cuban sandwich was perfectly paired with a Cutthroat beer. Very cool vibe and great service. I was there on Sunday and hung out longer then I was planning because of the great live music. I ended up ordering the hot tots (tater tots)!as I hung out. The overall design of the space works perfectly for the type of historic building it was at one point. Some very cool automotive mechanic shop design details. You got to check out the restrooms as well. I look forward to going back again and checking out the other sandwiches. Most importantly though, the concept behind this restaurant is quite altruistic because they give a good portion of their profit to local nonprofits that help those that are hungry and are in need. For that purpose alone, I will continue to come back and patronize this place.

Got the breakfast burrito, undergrad. If you're a fan of Russian dressing with breakfast, this is a good choice. Tasty egg, cheese, bacon and tator burrito w sriracha and Russian dressing.

  • Jason M.

First off they donate one sandwich to local shelter for every sandwich purchased!! Can you believe that what a great company. The sandwiches are really tasty. I have tried the Do Gouda, Ruben, Grilled Cheese, Sprang Chicken and the Mihami Vice, which is my favorite!! They have local beers and $1 dollar Bud and Bud Light, one of the few times I will drink that barley flavored water but for $1 I cannot resist but buy one. The cookies are just meh, but they do give you free cookies for checking in on Yelp.

  • Lani T.

Awesome decor, funky vibe. Great patio space. The BLT was yummy. The bread was a bit too thick for my liking though. Really liked the Turkey Day sandwich. Good balance of salty and sweet. Apricot Bacon Gorgonzola salad was so so in my opinion. Ingredients were cut up way too small and not enough put in . I enjoyed the cookie especially....Of all things. wow. Chocolate chip is the way to go! Still need to try their French toast brunch.

Holy wow this place is good! We discovered Even Stevens about a month ago and it's been my favorite place to eat in the area ever since. The first time we ate there, we ordered the party tots, thinking it would be a side of regular tater tots. Boy was I wrong, and we ended up with a ton of food between our two meals and the tots. It's a HUGE plate of tots topped with all sorts of tummy toppings like cheese, avocado and bacon. I've had their bacon and egg breakfast sandwich, breakfast burrito and pot roast dip. All were very good, but the pot roast dip is my favorite. I prefer it without the jalapeño jelly, as I'm not a big fan of mixing savory and sweet flavors on sandwiches. The only reason they don't get 5 stars is because the egg always come out a bit undercooked in the center. I hate runny yolks and have never seen a breakfast place that didn't use well cooked eggs for sandwiches. I thought it was a fluke but both times I've gotten something with egg, it's been like that. It's just personal preference and next time I'll just ask that they cook the egg a bit more. I'm also not a huge fan of the potatoes that come with the breakfast dishes. They're alright, but I prefer breakfast potatoes of the more crispy variety. I love their business model, and the staff is always super friendly. So glad this place opened up close to our neighborhood!

Very good sandwiches, with a great cause! I was disappointed that I couldn't add an additional donation to the cause of my choice to my tab.

Stumbled across this place on yelp looking for a Sunday brunch spot. Even though it's right by our house, we had no idea it was there. We have decided to have Sunday brunch here every week! Everything was so clean and visually pleasing. The employees were super cheerful and nice and matched the ambiance of the restaurant. We ordered the unlimited French toast. When it arrived, had it not been unlimited, it would have been well worth what we paid. Portion size was great and the taste was great! But...it was unlimited and we are American so we had more. The even have diet coke!! This is our new brunch spot. Next time we plan to try the $3 mimosas.

I LOVE EVEN STEVENS! Seriously my favorite place for sandwiches. The Do Gouda is delicious, and their grilled cheese with jalapenos is very good! A little too spicy for me though. I love their Sprang Chicken sandwich, it is my favorite one I have had yet! Their chips are great, you get some with every sandwich and a pickle. I love the humanitarian side of the place as well, it's awesome that with every sandwich they donate a sandwich to a local cause. It is a little pricey for a sandwich and chips, but worth every penny and also going to a good cause.

  • Dominic F.

Even Stevens was so tucked away, that I drove in circles finding it. It has a nice atmosphere, the sandwiches were well prepared and filling. I am a sucker for a good Italian meats sandwich and unfortunately there was nothing on the menu that caught my attention, so I went with a classic: Reuben. It was a solid choice, nothing outside of the box in preparation. I am looking to venture to other choices next time I visit. They also offer brunch and booze--I will return!

BEST grilled chesse I've had in my entire life! No joke- it's call JP's grilled cheese and it has garlic jallepenos added. *queue mass drooling* They also give you a choice of chips or a salad which I like the healthy option, the salad was even great. They also pair all their sandwhiches with craft beers- thank you! All the staff were friendly and upbeat especially the guy with the beard and golfer's hat. He gave us awesome recomendations. We also got the Do Gouda. Also amazing. The fact they donate a sandwhich for every sandwhich you buy is such a fantastic concept. The atmosphere is really hip and relaxed. This place is definitly my new favorite spot in SLC for sandwhiches and microbrews.

I would eat here every day! Or at one of their other locations! Great fresh, delicious food! Amazing service! Cool design and the cleanest bathrooms in the valley! Did I mention for every sandwich or wrap you buy they donate one to the homeless through local non-profits! You can't best this! Oh and $3 Mimosas on the weekends and unlimited French toast for brunch and they do breakfasts and...

Great food, good atmosphere and a reasonable price. The Do Gouda was excellent with a great mix of sweet and savory with just a hint of spice. Seating is friendly for groups of about four down to one or two. I'll definitely be coming back.

This is a great little sandwich shop! I got a Reuban with the suggested beer pairing and really liked it. Got a pretty standard grilled cheese for my kiddo. Nice laid back atmosphere and helpful staff. We'll be going back!

I checked this place out yesterday with a few friends. Nice bright space. Very friendly and nice staff $3 mimosas and this great little acoustic duo singing made it a nice touch. We had the breakfast burritos which were good but I needed hot sauce. The tater tots are to die for, loved them. My friend ordered the unlimited French toast (I think around $3.50) which was a very tasty cinnamon swirl bread. I will definitely be back to try some of their lunch type sandwiches soon.

    (5)
  • James S.

Great food and wonderful atmosphere! I highly suggest their turkey sandwich with a mild coating of cranberry sauce. Sunday's are great for unlimited French Toast and $3 mimosas. They also take a small portion of their food sales and use that money to donate sandwiches to hungry mouths. All in all, you should try this place at least once. (Service is good too!)

This place is great! Awesome food, and awesome vibe. It's hidden if you're not looking for this place. A little hard to talk to my friend across the table But other than that it's a pretty rad place! Two thumbs up

I had the Do Gouda with chips and it was amazing. My friend had the Hummazing with a salad and she loved it. The overall atmosphere of the place is exquisite, the food is delicious and the staff is very friendly. Knowing my money is going to a shop that not only has great food but stands for a great cause and the fact that they're partnered with local community organizations makes me want to return again and again.

Okay are the sandwiches good, hell yes. Do you have to wait to long to get them, another hell yes. I walked in there and there were only about 8 customers and I was next in line to order so I figured it would be quick. I waited 18 minutes to get my sandwich. The crazy thing is that they are moving so fast and yelling out oders and tripping over each other yet I sit in wait. Looked like to me that the caters and call ins and large orders COME FIRST. I watched a table of 5 gentlemen get served 8 minutes apart. They All sat there figiting wondering if it was rude or not to get started. I mean come on guys. I LOVE the concept, food is on point but service is horrible. I got stuff to do and probably won't be back. Jimmy Johns makes good sandwiches too.

    (3)
  • Hope M.

The food here is always so good! Excellent sandwiches and soups. The only thing keeping them from getting a 5 star review is their sad cookies. The chocolate chip had two pieces of chocolate in it, and the dough itself was more like a bland sugar cookie. Other than that, keep rocking the killer sandwiches guys!

  • D. W.

Tucked away in a somewhat run-down corner of Sugarhood, we have this small, somewhat cozy place. The outside speaks of twin garage doors, which is not a great look, but inside, lots of wood, hubcaps and metal. Menu is in dry-erase and chalkboard and has a lot cutesy-named sandwiches, some of which sounded vaguely interesting. A re-purposed rolling cabinet toolbox is utilized as part of the checkout and register desk and the entire effect is bare bones. Good enough. Clearly, the place is going to austerity in decoration, perhaps as a gesture of sincerity to their mission. I can dig that. When it comes to food, though, the digging mostly ends. The best thing about this is that they have Coke Zero on fountain. Next best thing is the mostly average red pepper hummus, which is served with gigantic carrot spears and celery stalks. Both of those need to be tossed. Carrots are fine, if they stick with the baby ones and the celery is pointless. Using those devalues the dish. Not much better is the chips. I like the pepper on them, but overall, the chips were another miss. A much bigger miss was the sandwich. So much wrong with this, starting with the kitchen entirely failing to follow instructions for no dressing on the Reuben. Somehow, this was construed by them to mean double, which ruined nearly all of the sauerkraut and the bread as well. Aside from that, the ratio was lacking. I get the idea, buy one sandwich and they give one to someone else. Fine. In practice, this winds up meaning you are paying for the contents of one full sandwich, but only receiving approximately half of that. Much less fine. Even if they had managed to keep the stupid dressing off my sandwich, this is basically a borderline acceptable sandwich and not much more. Wife had the Do Gouda and found that also lacking. Look, we've all had substandard sandwiches and probably will continue to have them, at least here and there, as long as places like Subway continue to dot the landscape, but the problem here comes with the food received vs. money paid and that ratio is, by far, the worst off. This place seems like it really wants to be a solid sandwich joint, but are missing the part about delivering on that idea. All their "mission" business aside, it's nice and all, but if I want to donate to any of those organizations, I know where to find them. When I go into a restaurant, I want quality and value for my shekels. This place needs to focus more on being a restaurant, if that's what it wants to be. As it is, definitely not there yet.

This place is awesome. Been here twice now. Food is great and they give back to the community. I've had the Do Gouda and the graduate breakfast burrito. Might be the best breakfast burrito I've ever had and I recently moved here from Texas so that's saying something.

I'm not normally a sandwich person, but I was intrigued by this place that gives back to the community and seems so involved! I decided to meet a friend there for lunch and check it out and I was very delighted. My companion was a bit late so I got to spend some time seated taking in the fun atmosphere. I love their interior design that's modern and industrial with the garage doors and car rims as decor with toolboxes used throughout. But it was fun too with pops of lime green and orange with the cartoony graffiti everywhere. I noticed what looked like the manager getting involved everywhere. He was bringing food out to the patrons and being so friendly and thoughtful to them, particularly to a family that had a few small kids. He was chatting with everyone and the people that I thought might have been good friends were new patrons that he was just THAT nice to. It's so refreshing to go to a place where you feel like you are really wanted and appreciated there. I'll keep going back for that atmosphere. And thankfully, since I'd already decided to come back again and again, the food was delicious. I got the pot roast sandwich with a side of chips (though it was quite a tough choice when their salads sound amazing). The sandwich was delicious, the roast and the pepper jelly pairing perfectly for a juicy sweet, savory, and spicy bite. The au jus was clever and tasted wonderful especially on that colder day. My only complaint with the sandwich was that my sourdough had holes in it, of course, and the sticky pepper jelly and roast juices were getting ALLLLL over my hands and unfortunately trying to use the napkins to de-stickify my fingers didn't help at all. Maybe they should consider having wet ones around for sandwiches like that or serving them wrapped inside parchment paper so our hands are protected. Otherwise I loved my lunch and the chips were a light and perfect side for the heavier sandwich. I came back again for a weekday breakfast as I couldn't resist bringing another friend and their breakfast menu caught my eye. I ordered the stuffed french toast as I was intrigued by the banana cream cheese filling. But unfortunately I wasn't as impressed with my breakfast as I was with the lunch. The banana cream cheese filling just seemed to be bananas between two slices of bread. I didn't get any cream cheese flavor and I was rather expecting it to be mixed in a little better- more like a mashed banana and cream cheese mixture- so it wouldn't slide around (as of course it did since bananas are slimier). It was also swimming in the blueberry compote that was a bit too sweet for my liking and overwhelmed the whole plate. The bread wasn't anything spectacular and seemed to have more of a savory flavor than a sweeter breakfast flavor that would've been nice. Overall it was fine, but not something I'd come back for. But you can bet I'll be returning for lunch! I'm so impressed with this place, for their obvious kindness that I find to be the star in all that they do. I'm so glad to have such a giving place like this in my neighborhood and that when I enjoy a meal there, I can be happy knowing that my indulgence helps to feed others.

This place is new to the area as they have one downtown that opened last year. Loved reading about the humanitarian effort they have with multiple entities in SLC. Walked into this packed place today and people scattered all over waiting to sit down and others getting take away orders. Finally made it to the counter to order, the menu is pretty straight forward. All of the employees seemed to be cheerful and in good spirits. I asked what was popular and the lady taking my order recommended the Do Gouda and the Mihami which were both great choices. Food came out hot and fast, bread perfectly cooked, plenty of seasonings, nice ample portion of meat. They would come around every 5 minutes to check on us to see how we were doing. Pretty awesome considering it not being a sit down and order type of restaurant. Very welcoming place and would love to go back at a time that isn't so crowded. :-)

This is their second location and the third time I've eaten at Even Stevens Sandwiches. They have a wide variety of soups, salads and sandwiches. Between the two locations I've tried the capreezy sandwich, the JP grilled cheese, the Reuben, the French onion dip and the tomato bisque. All top notch. Everything on the menu always sounds so good that I have a mild panic attack when it's time to order because I don't want to miss out on something. Now that this place is even closer to where I live, I'm sure I will be frequenting it much more often, but it's worth the trip (which isn't that much further) to the other location. They are very moderately and reasonably priced and for every sandwich purchased they donate one to a local charity. Go check them out!

Even Stevens is trendy and tasty - a perfect fit for Sugarhouse. If you haven't heard, it also does great good for the community, following the model of Toms, Warby Parker, etc. and donating a sandwich to local SLC non-profits for every sandwich purchased. Awesome!! With that said, I wish that do-goodness was a little more obvious when you walk into the restaurant (we visited Sugarhouse location) because I would've felt a little less begrudging about the prices. I loved the Pot Roast Dip sandwich - it had lots of thinly sliced turkey pot roast, melty Swiss cheese, and red onion on sourdough with a side of salty, yummy au jus - but the kicker is the sweet (not hot) jalapeno jelly slathered on. It's a surprising kick of sugar and was delicious, though I'm not a huge fan of mixing my salty and sweet so probably would ask to have that on the side next time. I loved the side salad and the house dressing, though it was definitely just a side-salad size. The sandwiches were sort of puny - just filling enough with the salad, but a little small for anyone with a big appetite. My husband's house-made chips were delicious and crunchy. The Sugarhouse restaurant was clean and welcoming, with plenty of seating at rustic wood tables. We wanted to sit inside but the A/C was on way too high when we went that day and it was freezing inside. We opted for the quirky metal chairs on the "patio" - a cement pad right by the parking lot out front - which was nice but a little bit too hot in the sun. Sort of awkward seating situation with the too-cold A/C inside. Despite that, we would definitely come here again, especially now that we know about their humanitarian efforts - looking forward to trying the other sandwiches.
